Destination Thailand Visa
Remote workers, freelancers and people coming for Muay Thai, cooking school or medical treatment.
Is it for you?
- You work remotely for a US company or US clients
- You're a freelancer with clients abroad
- You're coming to train Muay Thai, take a Thai cooking course or get medical treatment
What you need to know
- What it is
- A 5-year multiple-entry visa built for remote workers and 'soft power' activities such as Muay Thai, Thai cooking and medical treatment.
- Stay
- Up to 180 days each time you enter. You can extend once per entry at an immigration office, for another 180 days, for ฿1,900.
- Money
- Proof of ฿500,000 in savings. A US bank statement is accepted. Many embassies expect the balance to have been there for about three months, not deposited the week before.
- Family
- Your spouse and unmarried children under 20 can come as dependants. Each pays the ฿10,000 fee.
- Where to apply
- Only from outside Thailand, online through the official Thai e-visa portal. Paper applications ended in January 2025.
- Watch out
- Thai language schools no longer count as a qualifying activity, and the DTV can't be renewed after 5 years: you apply again from scratch.
How we handle it
- We confirm you qualify and pick the right category (remote work or soft power)
- You gather proof of employment or enrolment, plus 3 months of bank statements
- We review everything, then file through the e-visa portal from the US
- Decision usually within a few weeks; you fly in on a 180-day stay
