Long-Term Resident visa

High earners, wealthy retirees and remote professionals who want 10 years and the lightest paperwork.

Is it for you?

  • You earn US$80,000 or more a year remotely, from a large or listed employer
  • You're 50 or older with a pension or passive income of US$80,000 or more
  • You have US$1 million or more in assets

What you need to know

What it is
A 10-year visa, issued for 5 years and renewed for 5 more after your qualifications are checked again.
Categories
Wealthy Global Citizen (US$1M in assets, half invested in Thailand), Wealthy Pensioner (50+, US$80k a year), Work-from-Thailand Professional (US$80k a year remote), Highly-Skilled Professional (working for a Thai employer in a target industry).
Lower thresholds
Pensioners earning US$40,000 to US$80,000 can qualify by investing US$250,000 in Thai bonds or property. Remote and skilled professionals with a master's degree can qualify from US$40,000.
Reporting
You report to immigration once a year instead of every 90 days.
Tax
Highly-skilled professionals pay a flat 17% on Thai salary. The other categories are exempt from Thai tax on foreign income.
Watch out
For remote workers, your employer must be publicly listed or have at least US$50 million in revenue over 3 years. That rules out many startups and small companies.

How we handle it

  1. We check which LTR category you fit, and whether a cheaper visa would do the same job
  2. Eligibility application to the Board of Investment, with income and employer documents
  3. Once endorsed, the visa itself is issued at an embassy or in Thailand
  4. Optional digital work permit (฿3,000 a year)
